Well, we gave a good fight and we almost made it, but we didn’t. Sorry for the long hiatus but I was tremendously sick and I had some family issues, anyway let’s review. After our great victory against Tahiti, Venezuela faced Spain for the U-20 World Cup. We gave a good fight but we lost 3-1. We still qualified to the next stage, but in second place. We kept our heads up as we saw that our next rival was United Arab Emirates and since it is not a greatly known soccer team, they thought they were going to be easy. So wrong. We lost 2-1 against them after an arduous game. Ghana finally won that tournament against Brazil.

We saw this as depressing, but there was still hope for our nation to enter a prestigious tournament. It was difficult, but not impossible. Our 1st game against Paraguay, we were very impressive. Vega made incredible saves and our offensive was solid, but we couldn’t stop them from scoring. It ended 2-1 as it was a very close call but then we were officially eliminated from the World Cup. Me and my friends were devastated to see our team fail as they were so close. They game against Brazil was totally meaningless but it was fun to watch as both teams attacked in various occations but it ended 0-0.

MAybe next time we will be able to qualify, and that movie about the Vinotinto would actually mean something (I thought it was a dumb idea too). Now what we can do is look towards the future, and hope that the youngsters who played in the U-20s World Cup will be in the senior side and bring joy to millions of Vinotinto fans.

Hello bloggers welcome to my review of the exciting game of Venezuela-Tahiti. Wow. Just wow. I have seen great performances but this is exaggerated. My theory is they took the talent of all Serie A games and put it in this game (seriously, those games on the weekend sucked ass). You may ask why the two titles. I couldn’t decide between the two and said what the hell, and put it there. Yeah, not an interesting story. Anyway, Venezuela was completely brilliant by winning 8-0 and a holy shit by the footballing world. Seriously, I entered Goal.com and ESPN.com (well the latin american version) and the were all talking about the great victory. I’m not saying Tahiti is the best team in the world because they were thrashed by Spain 8-0 as well, but still we have officially qualified to eighth finals (i don’t know how its called) making it an impressive debut by todays standards.

Remember our hero from last match? Who scored the last goal? Del Valle? Read my last review. Well he made a hat trick today, and our other forward whose father was a Venezuelan soccer hero also scored, Salomon Rondon. This game I sadly missed but saw the repetition and it was outstanding. 6 goals from our 2 forwards, 1 goal from our defender Jose Velazquez, and another goal from the other defender ( who i think is the son of another legendary Venezuelan) Oscar Rojas. Now lets talk statistics, 1st of all we had 24 shots and 15 shots on goal, they had 8 shots with 3 shots on goal (ouch). If that’s not impressive enough, they had 2 red cards (ouch). And if THAT isnt impressive enough, in the last 3 minutes of the game, Venezuela scored 3 times (ouch). It was really an outstanding game and i was hoping a victory, but this passed the line between being proud of your team , and feeling sorry for the other. Next game is against Spain, who shares 1st place with us. If we win, we are in 1st place, if we lose or draw, we are in second, which its still awesome because it is the 1st time in history we get to do it. VIVA LA VINOTINTO. The game is on Thursday. Here is a link to the highlights, I apologize if it doesn’t work. Oh and Rondon and Del Valle have entered into World Cup History for being the 1st game to ever have 2 hat tricks in one game.

Hello everyone, I am the new Venezuela Team Blogger. You can call me Gianfranco or Caco (my nickname.) I have started at the right time as our beloved Vinotinto will for the 1st time in history will have a chance to qualify for the World Cup.

The decisive games will come in a couple of weeks so we are pretty excited for this, even though our next games are against Paraguay and Brazil, but right now i will focus on the U-20 World Cup in which Venezuela qualified and actually won a game. But don’t think I will only talk about Venezuela, I will also talk about current football news and every once in a while I will talk about Serie A, Premier League, La Liga, Champions League, etc. I will focus on the previews and reviews on those games and i hope you enjoy them and every once in a while I will write in Spanish for those who can’t understand English or wish to vary a little. Oh and by the way if you ever spot any mistake in my writing I am sorry because I am actually a Venezuelan and I am bilingual. I am also a big fan of Italian Serie A as my family came from Italy.

Now Venezuela is in a great moment. Maybe one of the best in years. We have a forward who is the #1 goal-scorer in the MLS, a 20 year old goalkeeper who plays for a top notch italian team (Udinese), and Arango who almost went to the Villarreal but went to a German team with a weird name. Since I have little time to review the U-20 game against Nigeria it will be short and simple. We were a bit lucky with Nigeria since the scandal of the U-20 players not really being under 20 so some players were kicked out of the squad. I have to say that our goalkeeper, Romo, was brilliant (no wonder Udinese bought him) and Del Valle who scored our only goal was full of confidence when after the game he said,

“We’ve given Venezuela it’s first victory,” Del Valle said. “(Everyone) thought we were going to lose. That was a big mistake.”

Our next game is against Tahiti on Monday, if we repeat our form then we could secure second place or even 1st if we win against Spain. Even though Nigeria did dominate the second half, our great defense and our great goalkeeper we fought them back. Now i will leave you with the highlights ( I couldn’t download it to the page so here is a link) and see you next time.

In some statements Joseph Blatter gave support to the President Chavez ideas to “change The color Vinotinto (Burgundy)” of our national team, that color that gave us an actual identity in the soccer scenario, after this i just only got to say…

What does J. Blatter knows about national feeling?, i mean the guy its the head of an organization (Fifa) wich contains lots of countrys and associates all over the globe, and doesn’t have a clue about “feeling your colors” it’s all about, that says a lot to me about the type of administration whe are dealing with.

Being Vinotinto it’s an honor, that color represents many years of portraying the “Cinderella” of the Conmebol and struggling to defeat that title, it’s the hard work of many years trying to achieave what we have today, wich is recognition, an evolved squad, and most of all… the feeling that all of us are Vinotinto.

President Chavez & Co. will not have an easy task, changing what we are (and what we feel proud of) it’s not that simple, im really confident that nothing will happen and there’s many years left for the rising vinotinto.
