Making History…
Hello everyone, I am the new Venezuela Team Blogger. You can call me Gianfranco or Caco (my nickname.) I have started at the right time as our beloved Vinotinto will for the 1st time in history will have a chance to qualify for the World Cup.
The decisive games will come in a couple of weeks so we are pretty excited for this, even though our next games are against Paraguay and Brazil, but right now i will focus on the U-20 World Cup in which Venezuela qualified and actually won a game. But don’t think I will only talk about Venezuela, I will also talk about current football news and every once in a while I will talk about Serie A, Premier League, La Liga, Champions League, etc. I will focus on the previews and reviews on those games and i hope you enjoy them and every once in a while I will write in Spanish for those who can’t understand English or wish to vary a little. Oh and by the way if you ever spot any mistake in my writing I am sorry because I am actually a Venezuelan and I am bilingual. I am also a big fan of Italian Serie A as my family came from Italy.
Now Venezuela is in a great moment. Maybe one of the best in years. We have a forward who is the #1 goal-scorer in the MLS, a 20 year old goalkeeper who plays for a top notch italian team (Udinese), and Arango who almost went to the Villarreal but went to a German team with a weird name. Since I have little time to review the U-20 game against Nigeria it will be short and simple. We were a bit lucky with Nigeria since the scandal of the U-20 players not really being under 20 so some players were kicked out of the squad. I have to say that our goalkeeper, Romo, was brilliant (no wonder Udinese bought him) and Del Valle who scored our only goal was full of confidence when after the game he said,
“We’ve given Venezuela it’s first victory,” Del Valle said. “(Everyone) thought we were going to lose. That was a big mistake.”
Our next game is against Tahiti on Monday, if we repeat our form then we could secure second place or even 1st if we win against Spain. Even though Nigeria did dominate the second half, our great defense and our great goalkeeper we fought them back. Now i will leave you with the highlights ( I couldn’t download it to the page so here is a link) and see you next time.
